Less transportation is better for the environment. Some people also prefer to buy UK made products.
A green badge means that this product passes our criteria for being made in the UK. Transporting products uses fuel. That creates greenhouse gas emissions. So buying goods that are produced, made or grown closer to you can help to cut emissions. You'll support local jobs and businesses too. We look for goods that are made in the UK (can also be farmed, produced, baked or brewed!). For fresh fruit, vegetables and meat try to buy locally and in season where you can as this further helps to reduce the environmental impact of your food.
